Why There Is No Trek Sign at Chreav Waterfall

15 Dec 2024

The journey to Chreav Waterfall is as challenging as it is stunning, though not always by necessity. Without signs to guide the way, most hikers unknowingly take the hard path—a grueling 2.5-hour trek through steep, rocky terrain. It’s the kind of trail that leaves your legs aching and your will tested, making the sight of the 7th step of the waterfall feel hard-earned. But what’s frustrating is that an easier route exists, hidden in plain sight. Without signs or markers, visitors are left to guess their way through the wilderness, often choosing the harder path simply out of ignorance. As I stood at the waterfall’s edge, admiring its raw beauty, I couldn’t help but wonder: why isn’t there a simple sign to guide the way? This lack of direction turns what could be an enjoyable hike for all into a trial by fire for the unprepared. A place this beautiful deserves better care—and a clearer path.
